Primark in Dubai… Was a big fat LIE!

If you’re a female, even if you don’t hail from the UK, you would of heard about Primark.

Primark is on par with any high street store, except the clothes range from 5 AED to about 120 AED and are BANG ON TREND, sure the clothes last long enough for 1 wear but it’s still the cheapest store.

So imagine our surprise when we saw this downtown Dubai, (via www.vintagerunways.blogspot.com) when we saw this…

We freaked out, thinking of all the cheap clothes we could buy! But then The National went and ruined our fantasy!

A fake Primark store opened this week in Bur Dubai on Bank Street, selling goods under the Primark label and masquerading as the budget brand from the United Kingdom.

The new store has two floors and is packed with clothing that looks like Primark’s signature cheap T-shirts, socks and a underwear.

Primark denied opening a store in the UAE and sent a statement to The National explaining it was seeking legal action against the company running the fake store.

“We are aware that there is a store in Dubai that purports to be part of our group,” the UK retailer said. “Primark does not operate any stores there and this is not, therefore, a legitimate Primark store. The company is considering its legal options as a matter of urgency.”

But the question remains, if the store has equally on trend and cheap clothes items… do we care it’s fake. But bets are this will be another Karama-esque / Satwa store selling Chinese made dresses and clothes that look like something the 90′s rejected.
